Moffat took pole position when a timing issue saw Jarrod Hughes relegated to second place.

The former series champion brought the #34 Garry Rogers Motorsport Camaro home 2.9s clear of Hughes, while Elliot Barbour held off a hard-charging Todd Hazelwood to finish third.

Hazelwood held on to fourth despite coming off the road while attempting to pass Barbour, while Blake Tracey bounced back from big damage in practice to round out the top five.

Moffat and Hughes got away to an even start when the race got underway, but an issue with the lighting system saw the start quickly aborted.

Further back, Tracey and Barbour rocketed forward, gaining ground at Turn 1 while Cody Brewczynski was pitched sideways following contact with Tyler Cheney.

The field was brought under the control of the safety car for one lap, allowing the race to get back underway with a single file restart.

Moffat held the lead from Hughes, building a steady gap while the field battled behind.

Touring Car Masters champion Adam Garwood had a big sideways moment through Turn 1 when battling for ninth spot with Tom Davies.

Tracey was muscled out of the way at Turn 1 by Jack Smith, bringing Nathan Herne into the fight.

After copping a shove from GRM’s Lachlan Evennett, Herne was not pleased, showing his displeasure.

Smith struggled in the late running with straight-line speed, culminating in Herne forcing the issue at Turn 1, forcing Smith wide and allowing Brewczynski into the battle.

Davies made contact with Brewczynski heading into Turn 5, sending the V8 SuperUtes front-runner sideways and careening into Evennett, dropping the pair well down the order.

Jordan Freestone’s car pulled up after the finish line with leaking fluid, which appeared to catch out Domain Ramsay and Smith on the final lap.

Davies (#42 Camaro) held onto sixth, ahead of Herne (#29 Camaro) and Ben Bargwanna (#97 Mustang).

Garwood (#2 Mustang) and Harrison Sellars (#60 Mustang) rounded out the top 10.

The Trans Am Cup Series returns for Race 2 on Saturday at 12:15pm ACST.

Porsche Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia

Carrera Cup held a pair of 25-minute practice sessions on Friday, each topped by young Kiwi Clay Osborne.

Osborne led home former Supercars full-timer Aaron Love in Practice 1, while fellow Kiwi Marco Giltrap came just 0.29s short of topping the second session.

Carrera Cup returns for Qualifying on Saturday morning at 8:40am.

Territory Sedans

Rodney Jessup took the outright victory in his Improved Production Holden Commodore VF.

Former Supercars full-timer Bryce Fullwood came home in second despite getting the jump at the start.

Fullwood’s VH Commodore ultimately could not match Jessup’s much younger machine for straight line speed, crossing the line 11.7s behind the leader.

Ian Roots rounded out the top three to be the first Commodore Cup entry, leading home a class quartet through to sixth spot.

Western Australian Zane Rhodes finished eighth outright to take the Hyundai Excel class win.

Territory Sedans returns for Race 2 on Saturday at 9:20am.
